Professional English Language Skills (PELS) and Elements of Academic Writing Worskshop Series

We have two new programs with CCR annotation coming soon and we would appreciate your help in getting the message out!

Professional English Language Skills (PELS)
The Professional English Language Skills (PELS) offering is a set of workshops focused on improving English language and academic skills related to spoken and written English. This series is intended primarily for students who have English as a Second Language (ESL), though students who specifically need to work on their English language skills are welcome to attend. This program offers eight one-hour workshops focusing on a different language related skill each week. Through participation in engaging weekly activities that promote confidence and comprehension, students will learn how to use and apply academic language as well as to create accurate grammatical structures necessary for success in written tasks. Students are required to submit a short written reflection piece upon completion of the workshop series if they wish to receive a Co-Curricular Record (CCR) notation. Participants must attend seven of eight workshops to be eligible for CCR notation.
No registration is required.  Workshop descriptions, dates, times, and locations can be found here:

The Elements of Academic Writing Workshop Series
This series consists of eight workshops that leads participants through the writing process, from understanding the assignment all the way through to editing and revising the paper once it is written. Participants who successfully complete the series (attending and doing the preparatory work for at least six of the eight workshops, as well as completing the final reflective analysis) will receive CoCurricular Record recognition on their transcripts. The format of the workshops emphasizes the hands-on application of the principles and approaches that are taught: participants will work with material from their own courses and disciplines as they acquire the relevant skills and understandings linked to each stage of the writing process.

Registration is required.  Workshop descriptions, dates, times, and locations can be found here:
