This is a great opportunity for students, current or recent grads in IT, to hear the former CEO Microsoft Canada talk about his efforts to ensure the safety of wireless device users in Canada
topic: Are you using your wireless devices safely?
Mr. Clegg has spent his entire career in the technology sector and has seen the tremendous benefit technology can provide. Additionally, he has seen the harmful effects if technology is not used appropriately and he believes our current use of wireless devices is not safe. The industry provides warnings on all wireless devices that are hidden in the manuals. Instructions to keep smart phones at least 1.5 cm away from our bodies as an example.
Mr. Clegg co-founded C4ST, Canadians for Safe Technology. C4ST is a not-for-profit, completely volunteer-based, national coalition of parents, citizens and experts who mission is to educate and inform Canadians about the dangers of the exposures to unsafe levels of radiation from wireless technology and to work with all levels of government to create healthier communities for children and families from coast to coast to coast.
the second presenter being: Head, Product Management for Perfecto Mobile – topic: One Digital Lab in the Cloud : A Key to Digital Engagement Success
With the stakes raised for digital quality, developers, QA, operations, and line of business and marketing leaders need to work together to assure that native apps and responsive design websites are being tested on the devices customers are using. Another key to the digital shift is balancing quality with velocity. To keep up with a fast-moving market, enterprise teams need to invest in automated testing on real devices and an always-on lab, which can only be done in the cloud.
This session will focus on the common barriers to a winning digital experience and how to overcome them using a digital cloud lab, specifically addressing the following:
- The time it takes to test is delaying the time to market
- The current quality practices are slowing down the shift to an Agile process
- Quality assurance costs are trending in the wrong direction
- Customers are experiencing too many defects that are escaping into production
- Degraded app performance is only understood after user complaints start flowing
