COMPASS The Professional Writing and Communications program is publishing its annual literary journal, Compass. Compass showcases research-based articles. We accept submissions on various scientific, environmental, historical and financial topics. We want unpublished work featuring original content, writing style and creativity. Any UTM student may submit up to 3 pieces.

Please send: Feature articles with source list (2500 words) and short pieces (definitions) with source list of 300 words or less.

MINDWAVES Mindwaves is looking for submissions for its annual publication. Mindwaves showcases creative non-fiction stories from all paths of life. We invite all UTM students to submit up to unpublished 3 pieces. Only one can be selected for publication. Stories must be a maximum of 2500 words.

Designers Wanted Looking to build your professional portfolio? Mindwaves and Compass are looking for graphic designers! Mindwaves is a student-produced collection, published annually, that showcases the creative non-fiction work of UTM students. Compass showcases the best research-based articles and essays written by UTM students. We are looking for two graphic designers (one for each publication) who will work closely together to design and typeset the interior and covers of the publications. As part of the editorial team, you will also be produce promotional posters and web advertisements. If you are interested in one of these positions, please submit a cover letter, resume and three to six pieces that showcase your creative talent. This may include (but is not limited to) book covers, magazine photographs, personal photography and artistic illustrations. We are looking for candidates who are familiar with Adobe programs (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator) and other graphic design programs, as well as WordPress. Typesetting skills are an asset. These are volunteer appointments.
